Department of Civil Engineering, Eskisehir State Academy of Engineering and Architecture (EDMMA) was established in 1970 within the academy created. Since 1993 has been part of the Osmangazi University (OGU), Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Since 2005, the university's name was changed to the Eskisehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU).
Civil Engineering Department offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees. Undergraduate education lasts 4 years. It is provided that undergraduate students will have to do compulsory summer internships in order to be able to meet the industry during their education and to develop themselves in accordance with these conditions by seeing the problems and needs of the sector before graduation.
Structure Dynamics & Earthquake Engineering, Construction Materials, Transportation, Geotechnics and Land Surveying Labs are available in in the department located in Eskişehir Osmangazi University Meselik Campus. In these laboratories, besides theoretical applications, scientific researches are carried out and technical and consultancy services are provided for the solution of engineering problems in and around Eskişehir.
Since 1974, the department has more than 5000 graduates. Alumnies has been employed in variety of public institutions and private sector companies including DSI, Department of Highways, Bank of Provinces, Rural Affairs and the municipalities etc. Alumnies also joined to universities and researcher institutions. Civil engineers, with a wide range of fields of study, find jobs in the aircraft industry, agriculture, mining and the housing sector, and environmental field which becomes increasingly important.
Candidates who have successfully completed the undergraduate program can study in the graduate programs in their fields or related fields provided that they have a valid score from ALES or equivalent exams and have sufficient knowledge of foreign languages.
